Colin Hay - This wall-eyed former "man at work" has broken out with some of the most moving and beautiful music I've heard in the last ten years. Featured recently on the "Garden State" soundtrack, Colin's quirky-but-soothing voice and skilled acoustic skills make me smile every time I hear them.

SITE UPDATES!

Bummed out about mp3.com's new corporate take-over?! Worried that my MP3s are lost forever? Breathe a sigh of relief...

  • Waking Up recorded @ Deep Ellum Studios, Craig Smith--engineer

Also, I keep talking about how I'm gonna get an album put together and blah-dee-blah. But let's face it: That's not happening for a while.

But do not despair, for I plan to keep making updates and will eventually get around to revamping this site to make it more of a personal thing than a music-oriented thing.

So keep comin' back and see what's going on.

I Hope Hippies are as Nice as They Seem

or, Patty Griffin, Yet Again

It looks like I had more money than I thought I would this month. I love the way Life and Fate work together sometimes.

Went to see Howie Day, but he sold out . . . I think in more ways than one (ouch!).

Sub Oslo and SpooFoo rocked the effing casbah on Saturday. The Electric Eyeball Experience at the Ridglea was worth the drive out to Ft. Worth and the $12 at the door. One thing about Sub Oslo: Their drummer is amazing! Not only was he great to watch, but his rythms and executions were beautiful and intriguing.

Not going to David Cross. Covering a shift for someone at work. :(

But, on the 23rd, I get a little unexpected treat. Craig is taking me to see the wonderous and magical Patty Griffin! Wah wah woo! I know I got to see her a couple of months ago, but you can never see too much of Patty. So, a big thank you to Craig-head for wanting me to come along and another thank you to Crying Girl (you and Craig and I know who you are) for being such a high-maintenence drag with bad timing.

And now, the show we’ve all been waiting for . . . well, maybe just the show that I’ve been waiting for: The Kerrville Music Festival!!! *sounds of the crowd going ape-shit with me victoriously waving my hands in the air* That’s right, kids. In just four short days I will be in Kerrville, Texas, basking in the company of my own kind and the glory of the festival. Money will be tight, the mosquitos will be rampant, and the sun will be baking me like a raspberry torte, but it is going to be supa-fabulous! (I’m excited, can’t you tell?) I promise I will write and tell you all about when I get back on the 29th.

But until then, keep your stick on the ice and remember that Mama Holly loves you!
