So I've been thinking lately. About a lot of things, really. But mostly I've been thinking about the power of positivity.
Not to worry any of you kids, but I've been a little low for the past couple of months. Why . . . Not really that important. What's important is that I've forgotten my own advice, advice that I've been giving to people for years: There is a bright side to everything, no matter how dark things seem to be.
There's a trick I taught myself about a year ago, one that I've been trying to practice. Find one thing every day to marvel over. It's that simple. This world is filled with so many wonderful and awesome things, and the best part is that they're all right in front your face, everywhere you look. Think about the mechanics of a laugh. Marvel over the generations upon centuries upon eons of time that it took to mold the human hand as it is today. Turn your face into the wind and try to pick out at least three different smells, then wonder where they came from. If you see someone smiling, come up with a funny story about what made them smile. It's hard to articulate exactly what I'm trying to get at; you'll just have to try it out, then you'll get it.
My point is that there are hundreds of quadrillions of things going on in this world every second of every day, things that have nothing to do with the tiny scope of your own personal reality. Taking the time, once a day, to pick something and marvel over it . . . well, it just shows you how tiny you are, and how perfectly you fit into the grand scheme of things.
I've been thinking a lot more lately. Smiling a lot more. And, well, it makes me feel like I'm gonna burst with awe. And when I'm bursting, how can I possibly find the time to brood?
Positivity is key. Negativity is a waste of time. We're all just trying to find a little peace; every day I feel a little closer to my own.
Much love to all of you, kids. Until next time, keep smiling.
