Bummed out about mp3.com's new corporate take-over?! Worried that my MP3s are lost forever? Breathe a sigh of relief...

Also, I keep talking about how I'm gonna get an album put together and blah-dee-blah. But let's face it: That's not happening for a while.
But do not despair, for I plan to keep making updates and will eventually get around to revamping this site to make it more of a personal thing than a music-oriented thing.
Well, January is almost over, and so ends the first month of this year. So far, I've yet to live up to any of my New Year's resolutions (and I'm still putting '02 at the end of the date), but this was expected so I'm not too disappointed with myself. One thing that cheers me up is the thought of all the great shows that are coming up this year. If you're not obsessive-compulsive like I am and aren't constantly checking the internet to see who's playing where and when, lemmie give you a hand and a list of all the shows I think are gonna be worth going to this year.
January 31stColdplay @ Next Stage in Grand Prairie Two years ago, I scored a copy of Parachutes off the radio, and to this day I think it's the best thing I've ever won. I got to see them tour for that same album and I can tell you firsthand that Coldplay puts on a damn good show. Tickets are, unfortunately, sold out. But if you're uber-rich or have a lot of money to blow this month, there are box tickets and VIP seating still available. There's no way I'm gonna be able to spend that kind of cash this month, but to the rest of you who can I say that Coldplay is worth the regret you'll feel later.
February 1st Holly @ The Four-Star Coffee Bar in Ft. Worth This is such a shameless plug for myself. I mean, you're on the website, you're already lookin' around, but I feel like I gotta. Go to the What Tour? page for more details.
February 7th A-hummin' Acoustical Acupuncture @ The Ridglea Theather in Ft. Worth Daniel Katsuk, Tricky Ricky, and Monk E. Brains rockin' da house for us in February. Afterwards, stay to watch Daniel's debut as the voice for a character on a cartoon show. I'm not makin' this up!
March 7th Ruthie Foster @ The All-Good Cafe in Dallas Totally psyched! Ruthie is amazing, and she always seems to play these tiny little intimate venues, so you really get a chance to experience the whole show.
March 16th Death Cab for Cutie @ The Ridglea Theatre in Ft. Worth I'm really loving this band. They're pretty unknown still, I think, and my friend DJ is royally pissed that I'm trying to tell the whole world about them, but when I find good music I wanna share it. I've never seen Death Cab live before, so I don't know what to expect. All I know is that I have to be at this show.
March 29th Holly @ The Four-Star Coffee Bar in Ft. Worth Deeply sorry, but it's like a compulsion.
April 4-6th Deep Ellum Arts Festival in Dallas Sorry I don't have a link for this one, but if you know where Deep Ellum is and you can't find the festival, you're a moron. Three days of music, art, and local talent crammed onto two streets in Dallas. I went last year and had a blast. Good food, good art, and a helluva lot of good tunes. I just hope it doesn't rain again this year.
April 18th Holly @ The Four-Star Coffee Bar in Ft. Worth Again, I'm sorry. What can I say; it's a sickness.
May 10th Spoonfed Tribe @ the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas This group of insane artists puts on one of the best performances I've ever seen. If you're moved by tribal beats, fantastic lights, groovy vocals, and anything that's different from the same ole same ole music scene, you must check out this show.
May 22nd to June 8th Kerrville Folk Music Festival in Kerrville Man, oh man, I cannot wait for this! Once again I'll be spending my birthday at the happiest, hippiest place on earth: Kerrville, TX. Wah wah woo! Nancy Griffith, Sara Hickman, Limpopo, and many more will gather to put on some of the best shows of the year. Grab a tent, some good strong mouthwash, and your best tie-dyed shirt and head on out to Kerrville, baby, yeah!
September 19th-21st Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin Dunno yet who's gonna be there this year, but does it really matter? Last year went off so well, all they'd have to do is get the same people and it'd kick ass again this year. Celebrate the end of summer in style in Austin; you won't regret it. Just make sure to look before you sit down on the grass.
That's all I can think of right now, but don't you think that's enough? If I hear about more good stuff, you kiddos know I'll let you in on it. In the meantime, check out the band Sorta. Craig, Paul, and I went to see Bob Schneider play at Trees last weekend and Sorta was the opening band. Man alive, they were good! I heard two songs and lost my mind; I went immediately to the back and bought two CDs and a tee-shirt. These local boys give you rock music served up hot and steaming, in your face and undeniable. Check e'm out.
